I took an asynchronous section of the EME2040 class. One thing I have liked about this class is being able to work on the material at my own pace because I can make my own schedule for when to do the readings and assignments. One thing I have disliked is the grading scale being either a 0, 70, or 100 on assignments. I think it is very unfair and does not adequately reflect the work put into the assignment. As a teacher, I would grade assignments better because it is very discouraging as a student to receive a 70 on an assignment when you have only missed one part of it. In reality, that grade should be more like a 90. Having a grading scale that adequately reflects the student’s work as a teacher could help create a more positive classroom environment and make students more motivated to complete their work. Making the web design was overall a pretty fun assignment. It was cool to make a website from scratch because that is something I had not done before. I liked having the flexibility to make it pretty much my own, following the assignment guidelines. At first it was a little confusing to figure out because it was not something I was used to, but then it was fine once I got the hang of it. I can use these skills in the future if I decide to ever make another website because now I have a foundation of creating a website. Here is a link to my website if you want to check it out!   Teacher pages on a school website are a great way to keep parents up-to-date about what is going on in their student’s classroom. The websites I looked at were for Leon High School. There was a main page with a directory of all of the teacher’s individual websites. A lot of the public information on these sites include a background on the teacher, important documents related to the class, and a calendar with important school and class dates. A link to the site can be found here . Technology can be very helpful in helping me accomplish my professional responsibilities more efficiently and effectively. Different apps can help me keep my documents and materials organized. One specific teacher productivity tool that I will use is Google Calendar.   This was my first time using Diigo and I have mostly liked it so far. I think it is a pretty neat tool in the sense that it allows for collaboration. Someone can bookmark a page to the group site and add annotations and sticky notes for another person to read. Many people can add their own articles or pages that they find related to the topic at hand. I feel like it was a fairly easy site to navigate and learn how to use. The site looks a little confusing at first and a bit outdated so that would have to be my only complaint about it so far.  I never had a blog before so this was my first time using this as well. I have really enjoyed blogging so far because it has been nice to write about my personal experiences and perspectives on different topics. I actually started using Twitter in 2015 as a personal account! I originally made it as a way to interact with my friends in a more informal setting and follow accounts for different artists and bands that I liked. I have continued using Twitter for those same reasons, but now I also follow accounts that are related to FSU or the legal field, which is what I plan on going into. I have found Twitter to be beneficial in finding out information quickly, but you still have to do more research on it to check the bias and learn more. Twitter can be useful for my future career as a lawyer because I can use it to network with other lawyers on the platform and follow hashtags related to the specific field I want to go into to stay on top of information.  The digital divide is a big issue that faces many students in schools. "Uncle Tom’s Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly [Title page]" by Boston Public Library is licensed under CC BY 2.0   The grade level I chose from the Standards and Technology Matrices for ELA is grade 6. The standard is LAFS.6.W.2.6 which states that students should “use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of three pages in a single sitting.” In other words, this standard requires that students should have a solid base of understanding in how to use technology when writing a paper and be able to work with others in this if needed. I feel that I would be able to efficiently implement this standard into my classroom based on my skill set because these are things I have done throughout the course of my schooling.
