Teacher pages on a school website are a great way to keep parents up-to-date about what is going on in their student’s classroom. The websites I looked at were for Leon High School. There was a main page with a directory of all of the teacher’s individual websites. A lot of the public information on these sites include a background on the teacher, important documents related to the class, and a calendar with important school and class dates. Technology can be very helpful in helping me accomplish my professional responsibilities more efficiently and effectively. Different apps can help me keep my documents and materials organized. One specific teacher productivity tool that I will use is Google Calendar. This can help me keep track of when I have meetings or important assignments due and I can also link it to my class website so my students can see what is coming up as well. 

If I am being honest, my experience using PB Works specifically has not been great. My group page got restored back to what it was before maintenance so all of our work was lost. The site itself also looks very outdated and not like modern websites. I could use a wiki with students by having them pick a topic and each put research about the topic on the wiki.

    Hi Savannah! I think Google Calendar is a green productivity tool, especially if you are someone who already like organizing by planners, like I do. Also, I totally agree with you point that the aesthetic of PB Works is reminiscent of the early internet. Additionally, it is very unfortunate the maintenance interfered with our group's use of PB Works because otherwise I liked developing the wiki. I thought the functionality and web tools PB Works provided were intuitive and easy to use. Regarding you class site, I noticed as well that these function like a syllabus. As you mentioned they often include important dates/deadlines and documents, with some background information on the class and teacher too.

    Hi Savannah!
    I shared the same sentiments about PB Works. I agree, their web design is outdated in comparison to the digital creation of the modern world. The idea behind PB Works is great for group collaboration, but they need to do some serious renovation before it can keep up with technology being used in the classroom today.

I actually started using Twitter in 2015 as a personal account! I originally made it as a way to interact with my friends in a more informal setting and follow accounts for different artists and bands that I liked. "Uncle Tom’s Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly [Title page]" by Boston Public Library is licensed under CC BY 2.0   The grade level I chose from the Standards and Technology Matrices for ELA is grade 6. The standard is LAFS.6.W.2.6 which states that students should “use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of three pages in a single sitting.” In other words, this standard requires that students should have a solid base of understanding in how to use technology when writing a paper and be able to work with others in this if needed. I feel that I would be able to efficiently implement this standard into my classroom based on my skill set because these are things I have done throughout the course of my schooling.   I can remember using Microsoft Word as a student in middle school to write papers for class and to type up the different parts of my science fair project. In high school, I took a computer competency class my freshman year in which we focused on learning and mastering the different Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word in which I am certified in. But at some point in high school I started using Google Docs and now that is the only word processing software I use, unless prompted otherwise by a professor. The reason I prefer Google Docs over Microsoft Word is because I like how I can access my work from any computer and how multiple people can work on the document at the same time and collaborate together.
