Blog Journal #6

This was my first time using Diigo and I have mostly liked it so far. I think it is a pretty neat tool in the sense that it allows for collaboration. Someone can bookmark a page to the group site and add annotations and sticky notes for another person to read. Many people can add their own articles or pages that they find related to the topic at hand. I feel like it was a fairly easy site to navigate and learn how to use. The site looks a little confusing at first and a bit outdated so that would have to be my only complaint about it so far.

I never had a blog before so this was my first time using this as well. I have really enjoyed blogging so far because it has been nice to write about my personal experiences and perspectives on different topics. I like that this is a more informal manner of communicating with people because it makes blogging feel more fun. So far, the blogging process has helped to teach me basic tools on how to create a blog and edit the page to how I want others to view it. I can use these tools in the future if I ever decide to make a classroom blog.

An interesting Web 2.0 tool I might use when teaching would be Padlet. Padlet is a “collaborative web platform in which users can upload, organize, and share content to virtual bulletin boards called padlets” (Padlet.com). This can be used when teaching because the teacher can give a topic and all the students can add their own ideas to the board while also seeing what other students have put down. The link to Padlet can be found here: https://padlet.com/

  1. Hi Savannah!

Padlet is definitely an interesting tool. I went over to their site and was truly amazed with all the functionality that this platform presents. If I became a teacher I would definitely integrate this into my classroom as I think it would be a great way to have students engage with one another prior to presentations or even just to share ideas amongst their peers.

  2. Hi Savannah! I also had never used Diigo before so i found it a bit confusing as well. I agree that it appears to be a nice little tool to use for bookmarking pages and sharing them with a group. This is my first class that used blogs instead of discussion posts. Padlet seems like a cool tool! I have never heard of it!
